Is it right to buy things like refrigerators and install air conditioners in a house not belong to one?
My sister and brother-in-law just bought a Refrigerator and a washing machine, and installed an air conditioner to a house that belongs to my dead grandmother, after already having used it intermittently for the past 7 years. I am wondering if they had any right to do so. Could they later perhaps claim partial ownership of the house for owning part of its contents?
Nope,it would be considered a gift legally.The house would go to whoevers name is on the deed or will.In the event that there is not a will,the house would go to her oldest child and down the line from there.Purchaseing items for the house would have nothing to do with ownership.Your local courts or real estate office should be able to help with any questions you may have
